AS/NZS Standards – What you should know

At Glow Gear we Manufacture to a high level of standards.
All of our products are tested in New Zealand and Australia to be sure garments meet the required AS/NZS Standards. With this in mind you can be sure all stated information is correct for our safety requirements.
AS/NZS Standards AS/NZS 4602 This standard specifies the visual and manufacturing requirements of the garment for use as a High Visibility Safety Garment. This updated standard Specifies the classes for use (as above) and the visual area along with specific manufacturing requirements. E.g. Class D Garments must have a minimum High Visibility area of 0.2m2 front and 0.2m2 back (1m x 400mm = 0.4m2) in the Upper Torso.
Class D – For daytime use only. Designed for outdoor use comprising of fluorescent or non retro reflective high visibility material.
Class N – Designed for night use only comprising of retro reflective elements on any background.
Class D/N – For Day or Night use. Comprising of retro reflective elements on fluorescent background. AS/NZS 1906.4 This standard outlines the high visibility materials used in the garments as opposed to the manufacture of the garments themselves.
All materials used in the manufacture process must be tested for this standard to make sure they comply. The AS/NZS Standards tests are for the chromatically (brightness) of the fabric and retro reflective tape.
